According to the Boston Globe an Angel Flight that departed from Hanscom Field in Bedford has crashed in New York. Reports are that at least 2 of the 5 passengers on the Piper PA-34. The crash occurred in Garoga, NY, some 60 miles from it’s destination of Rome, NY.
One man and one woman are reported to have died in the crash with another person thought to be still in the aircraft. The aircraft is submerged in the Garoga reservoir and search teams will resume their search this morning.
“Angel Flight NE staff and volunteers are tremendously saddened by this tragedy and we all offer our thoughts and prayers to the families of those affected,” said Larry Camerlin, the group’s founder and president, in the statement. “Our volunteer pilots are the most compassionate and generous individuals who donate their time, aircraft and fuel to transport patients and loved ones for free to essential medical care that would otherwise not be readily available to them. There are no words that can adequately express our sorrow.”
Angel Flight Northeast is a group that transports patients for free to seek treatment for medical conditions.
