In a press release on Tuesday from Bangor International Airport, Delta Airlines has announced a return of seasonal service from Bangor to Detroit on June 8th.
The service will fly on Saturdays through August 10th. If the demand is there, it will potentially expand in 2020.
Delta ran a seasonal mainline flight and year round Delta Connection flights to Detroit but scrapped the route altogether in 2016. This left all of Deltas eggs in one basket at LaGuardia.
“We are very excited to reintroduce Delta service to Detroit,” BGR Director Tony Caruso said. “We haven’t had service to Detroit since November 2016, and are pleased that Delta is bringing it back. They are a strong partner and we look forward to yet another opportunity to work with them to provide valuable connections for our passengers.”
The Detroit flights will run CRJ-900s with 76 seats., are scheduled to arrive at BGR at 12:16 p.m. and depart at 12:51 p.m. Tickets are available to book now.
2018 saw a 10% increase in passenger traffic and a record 600,000 passengers travel through Bangor.
This give Delta more presence in Bangor which has year round flights from American To Philadelphia and Reagan National in Washington, Newark on United and Allegiant with service to St Pete-Clearwater and Orlando-Sanford. Seasonal service is offered to Chicago on American and United as well as American seasonal to Charlotte.
“We are grateful to be part of such a wonderful community that understands the value of our airport and the vital role that BGR plays in the local economy,” said Airport Director Tony Caruso. “We also are thankful to our employees who continue to provide the best customer service in the business, and the proof is the record numbers we keep seeing year after year.”
